Why you should visit a psychologist

If a person falls ill physically, then he goes to the doctor. But what if the problem is psychological? Go to a psychologist, of course. And in no case should we postpone the treatment of our problems: it can only get worse. Unknowingly, you can write off internal problems to a bad mood, weather, and other external factors. But in this way you only reduce their significance, which is simply wrong to do. Therefore it is worth considering some reasons for which you need to visit a psychologist.

Phobias

All people have certain fears. They are part of our life and always with us. However, not all phobias are dangerous and harmful. For example, if you are scared at the sight of a pack of wild and evil dogs, then it is better to bypass them. But how to identify fear, which is a psychological problem? A phobia is an irrational and uncontrollable fear, a strong and sustained experience near an object or in anticipation of something. To date, there is a huge list of phobias that are recognized as real. Some examples of the most common: misophobia (fear of dirt and germs, inherent in people with OCD), monophobia (fear of loneliness), arachnophobia (fear of spiders). One of the treatment tools is the “deep psychocorrection” method. The peculiarity of the unique technique and accuracy of work carried out with any of the elements of perception.

PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder is a serious mental condition that is caused by isolated or repetitive situations that traumatize the psyche. It may be caused by severe physical injury, participation in hostilities, violence or a threat to life. One of the most prominent symptoms is psychopathological repression. In this case, a person has strong experiences of the past. People call them “flashback.” Memories and experiences can occur both suddenly and as a result of triggers. A trigger is a part of an experience that can trigger an attack: a clap, a baby’s cry, a flash, a height, a text, certain words, etc.

PTSD has recently been actively treated by the method of desensitization and processing by eye movement (DPDG). What is its principle? Eye movements start the process of self-treatment of the human psyche. That is, traumatic events are stuck in the mind, and certain eye movements cause the brain to recycle them. They are better absorbed and cease to float in the future.

OCD

Obsessive compulsive disorder is a mental disorder in which obsessive or frightening thoughts (obsessions) appear in a patient. A person tries to get rid of them with the help of the same intrusive and tedious actions (compulsions). Some of the common obsessions are the fear of pollution, contamination, loss, the need for order and symmetry. By the way, superstition can also be attributed to them.

Fear of pollution is a classic example of this disease. In this case, the person in contact with the dirty, as he believes, the subject will feel strong discomfort, from which he wants to get rid of. As a rule, he begins to wash his hands. After that, if he again comes into contact with something “dirty”, the resulting discomfort will cause him to repeat certain actions for relief. A person with such OCD understands that often washing one’s hands after any contact is a rather pointless exercise, but he cannot do anything with himself.

For the treatment of OCD, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy is often used: the patient is deliberately placed in uncomfortable conditions for him and given specific instructions for action to prevent compulsions.

If it is difficult to contact live with a psychologist for certain reasons, now it is possible to undergo therapy remotely, via Skype. The effect is as positive as in face-to-face meetings. Skype can successfully cure: panic attacks, hypochondria, OCD, depression and a number of serious diseases. The advantage is not only that you can contact a specialist from a distance, but also during the session: it can be held even at night. The psychologist will listen to all your conditions, take into account the wishes and will make everything so that Skype sessions are productive.
